A lot of plastic waste cannot be recycled because it is contaminated by substances such as dye. But by cutting the long plastic molecules into pieces, the contamination can be removed. Vincent Voet, Associate Professor of Sustainable Plastics at NHL Stenden, is therefore conducting research into chemical recycling with his students. In this video, which he made in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV), Vincent explains what chemical recycling is.
